XO Noodle Rolls - Well made. Not spicy at all (and I don't like spicy). Comes with a peanut sauce and hoisin(?) dipping sauce.
Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings - Super hot when it first comes out, so be careful! I liked these, but I felt like they could've used a bit more flavor.
Pork & Century Egg Porridge - Probably my fav dish from here, as simple as it is. I drop a couple dips of soy sauce and white pepper in there to add a little more flavor, but I enjoy it either way.
They've got a pretty good beer selection and they also have a smaller appetizer menu / happy hour menu if you're interested in that. Be sure to take a look at the napkin holder box for a look at other stuff that aren't listed on their regular menu. -

Venus Cafe has been around for a long time through many different incarnations at this same address. The most recent owner had made numerous changes, some for better and some for the worst.
What I like:
-Their hainan chicken is really good
-Breakfast; sometimes it's good to grab take out and not worry about cooking breakfast at home
-Service has improved. I feel like the new owner got rid of certain people who treated customers like crap, which is good. I hope the owner continues to prioritize employees' attitudes.
What I don't like:
-No drinks for take out or doordash orders
In my opinion, I would say the most recent owner tried to apply a western vision to this restaurant, and most of the changes were things many did NOT appreciate. As an example, the owner took away happy hour, and then brought it back. I think people familiar with HK cafes would know that happy hours are really low traffic times, and people just want a small dish plus a drink; a percentage off of a full plate of food wasn't really attractive to people. Another example is bringing alcohol to an HK cafe, which I don't think was appreciated by customers. Limiting the drink choices that you could choose with your meal (i.e. no olvatine or Horlick included for breakfast; I get these drinks probably cost marginally more to make or having a variety of drinks to choose from slows down production, but variety is essential at a HK cafe) or having PBJ on the happy hour menu is a clear reflection that the new owner isn't really clear what the HK cafe culture values. With negatives, I do see a number of positives. I do like how the place has DoorDash service now, and how the breakfast menu can also be ordered through DoorDash. Employee service and attitude have definitely improved, but could go further. I think these improvements were good. Again, at $15 for lunch from a HK cafe doordash order, I do expect a drink.
Overall, it's an A-OK Hong Kong cafe, but there is just a lot of competition. If the restaurant doesn't know the type of customers it is serving or deviates too much from what people expect of a HK cafe, this will drive customers away. -

Solid good. Solid drinks. Their milk tea is above average, and it's pretty massive. Their iced lemon tea is really good. Breakfast is great. I love that their sets come with their large milk tea and pineapple buns. Tbh I come here just for the pineapple bun.
HH times are Mon-Fri 2:30p-5:30p, 9p-close.
Their happy hour is way better than Baby Cafe's. Sure you can get dishes for $3.5 at Baby, but their portions are so small that you'll end up ordering more, resulting in a larger b
Pro tip: Always check in on Yelp for a iced lemon tea, even if your meal comes with a drink. You can ask for the lemon tea to go.
UPDATE: they don't have the Check-In for free iced lemon tea anymore. -

They have a check-in offer for a free lemon tea so one of my friends got it and the lemon tea was tasty. We ordered 4 cold HK milk teas and 1 hot HK milk tea (averaged out to be 0.99/cold milk tea and the hot milk tea was free). Personally I've had better HK milk tea elsewhere, since I felt like the HK milk tea wasn't strong enough here but it wasn't too bad.
Onto the food. I did the build your own dish and ordered a baked seafood fried rice with curry sauce. The portion was huge (I had enough for lunch the next day) and it tasted pretty good. The curry was also mildly spicy.
I would come back in the future (maybe not for the HK milk tea, but the other items on the menu were pretty good and not too pricey). This place is cash only so don't forget to bring your cash to pay! 3.5/5 stars -

We were there for breakfast in Sunday morning, The foods was not fresh, we ordered porridge and pork and chicken tasted like they used old oil cook it and put it in, the rice stick fish and fish balls soup tasted like hot water over those ingredients, fish balls was cold
